Windows Phone 8 Smartphone Set to Pre-order on October 21st

The Verge revealed that AT&T will begin taking pre-orders on its entire lineup of Windows Phone 8 devices on October 21st— including the HTC 8X and Nokia’s Lumia 920.

Inside sources have revealed to The Verge that the carrier will begin taking pre-orders on the HTC 8X, Nokia’s Lumia 920, Samsung’s Ativ Smart PC, and the Asus Vivo Tab RT. Pre-orders for Samsung’s Ativ Smart PC and the Asus Vivo Tab RT will also commence on October 21st in preparation for a launch on October 26th. We understand that the Windows Phone 8 devices will be made available in early November, following the pre-orders on October 21st. A Microsoft spokesperson refused to comment on the pre-order date directly, stating that “Windows Phone 8 phones will be available to customers later this year.

AT&T is slated to sell both Nokia’s Lumia 920 and 820 Windows Phone devices, which are the latest in the carrier’s lineup of mobile devices. The Lumia 820 will be available from other carriers, such as T-Mobile, but the Lumia 920 will be exclusive to AT&T.

Microsoft has finally confirmed what loyal readers of All About Microsoft have known for a month-plus. The company will officially launch Windows Phone 8 on October 29. The launch venue will be somewhere in San Francsico, according to this invitation which Microsoft mailed to media types. So, the authenticity of the pre-order day may inaccurate.
